Tetovo in the 90s

The 90s is one of the most historic times for Macedonia, as we separated from Yugoslavia. The time was looking bright, but what was happening in our town at that time? So today I will be talking about what were the hot spots and things to do.

Tetovo was full of kids at that time. The best place to hang out with friends was at Jane Sandanski street because there was a “korzo” where people enjoyed themselves and had fun. But, the teens would always meet at the little shop called “Limenka” (which literally translates to “can”),and they would go to the lounge bar called Amigo which was one street away. The sports center was also popular in Tetovo for the teens. At that time, at the sports center there was a pitch for every sport and also swings, trampolines, and slides.

Now let’s talk about the fashion. The clothing fashion was very similar to the fashion these days. The girls and boys wore Levi’s jeans and checked shirts boys and girls mostly wore shoes like adidas and converse. The girls had hairstyles like: The Rachel, crimped hair, feathered hair and butterfly clips; and boys had hair styles like: the middle part, the flow and the side part.

The 90s were a beautiful time to be alive. There was just so much going on. There were great friendships and no social media, I’m sure that the teens loved it.
