- Titanic (1997) – movie
The movie “Titanic”, directed by James Cameron and released in 1997, is one of the most epic and successful movies of all time.
The movie is based on a true story and was released 85 years after the actual disaster.
The movie tells the story of the love between two sweethearts, Jack Dawson played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who was a talented artist from a lower income background, and Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet, a young and beautiful woman from a wealthy family.
The story takes place in the Titanic, which people considered as the “largest moving object ever built”. It was the most expensive liner of that era called the “ship of dreams”.
Rose, who is being forced to marry a wealthy man, falls in love with Jack, but their love doesn’t last very long because the ship hits an iceberg and sinks, which ultimately carries over 1500 people to their death in the ice cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean.
The story ends with the death of Jack and Rose, who is devastated, but lives to tell this traumatic love story.
Titanic was one of the longest movies commercially released by Hollywood studios and was also one of the most expensive movies to make, with a production budget of $200 million.
- Friends (1994) – TV show
“Friends” is a popular and loved TV series which began in 1994 and lasted ten seasons. It was produced by Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane.
The show revolves around a group of six friends that live in Manhattan, New York City.
This show is special for the viewers because they managed to keep the same cast throughout the entire series. It ended as it started… with six iconic characters: Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), and Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow).
Every episode shows the iconic and dynamic friendship of those six people that go through every life experience together: love, marriage, divorce, kids, fights, job careers.
The story begins with Rachel, a spoiled but fearless young woman who leaves her fiancé at the altar because she feels no love for him anymore after he betrayed her. So, she decides to start a new life in Manhattan. She moves in with her childhood friend Monica, who then introduces her to the rest of the group.
Over the course of the series, the characters experience personal growth, various career changes, and romantic relationships.
Each character starts the show being in their early twenties, aging to their thirties. Some characters have been reunited over the years, and others have come together by fate.
After ten seasons, Friends announced the show’s finale.
The group gathers at Central Perk one last time for a final cup of coffee before Monica and Chandler move out of their iconic apartment. Ross and Rachel finally end up together, and the friends share their last moments of laughter and joy. The final shot is of the apartment door, symbolizing the end of an era for both the characters and the viewers.
