Word and Letter Games
Games. The youth today plays a lot of different games (mostly non-educacional and just
for waste of time). Many teenagers play games on their computers or other technological gadgets, and completely forget that paper or spoken games exist.
With this article, I want to show you some interesting + educational games that can be played digitally or on paper.
Word games are generally used as a source of entertainment, but can additionally serve an educational purpose. Young children can enjoy playing games, while naturally developing important language skills like spelling.
Playing word games can be a great way to:
- Develop your vocabulary
- Help you think more deeply about words
- Become more fluent in English (if it’s a foreign language for you)
- It encourages the competitive spirit in you
There are some categories of word games:
● Pen and Paper word games like:
- Hangman (great game for developing spelling and vocabulary),
- Crosswords (great if you want to learn new words and definitions),
- Word searches (good way to get used to letter patterns and to improve spelling).Board and Dice games such as:
- Scrabble (good one for developing vocabulary),
- Boggle (good for developing handwriting),
- Dabble (great way to develop both spelling and vocabulary, and to have fun with words),Words games on the phone, for example: Daily Mini games and Puzzles like:
- Spelling Bee (developing spelling),
- Wordle (developing vocabulary),
- Connections (developing logic),
- Sudoku (developing brain skills),
- Globle (developing geography knowledge),
- Nerdle (developing mathematical skills).
