24 Hours One Comic, Who Can Do It Faster?

As we all know, we teenagers are full of creativity, time, energy and we love to prove that we can do anything that seems impossible, always so hot-headed and stubborn.  Typical teens, right? Wrong! We are used to being underestimated but we fight to show that we can actually do it and we have the right to. Sometimes some adults recognise our potential and invest in these activities that we want to be a part of.

Now I’m going to tell you about my experience with the “24 Hour comic book competition”, but I should start at the beginning. My friends and I were at school when the girls from the  other class told me about some art competition and asked me if I wanted to join them. At first I was hesitant but after I gathered more information I thought that it would be a good experience, so I joined them.

The  art competition was a 24 Hour comic book challenge. We practiced and talked about the plot and the story many times, and with the help of our teachers we thought that we were ready. The day came, we went to my friends house and waited for them to send us an email with the theme. When the message came we were so confused, the theme was “PLAN B”. We stayed drawing the same minute.

After long work, two hours of sleep and unforgettable memories we realised that we didn’t have time to finish it and submit it all by the time they set. We started to panic thinking that all that work was for nothing, but we got ready and we clicked the submit button just in time. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned. The app that we downloaded, wouldn’t accept the photos that we had of our comic. Then the panic started getting real, the deadline passed and we still hadn’t sent the photos. My friends started calling our teacher, then the people who worked in the organisation, the tension was so sharp that it could cut paper. I was so nervous, but after all that effort and about a million calls with our teachers, we did it. The pictures were sent. The time we spent, the memories we made and the stories we shared is the real Prize even if we don’t win anything. And for me it never was about the potential money we could win, or the recognition we might get, it was above all, the friends I gained.
