A long time ago, the world assumed that only men could be famous artists. But the women didn’t listen to society and proved them wrong by making some of the most incredible art. That proves that women can be artists too. Here are some of the most popular women artist:

1. Frida Kahlo – The Queen of Self-portraits (1907-1954)

Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón who is known as Frida Kahlo was one of the most famous artists. She was born in Mexico and she loved painting pictures of herself. She had a tough life and she expressed her feelings by painting. She painted pictures of her feelings, her culture and her dreams. Now people all over the world love her.

2. Georgia O’Keeffe – The Flower Lady (1887-1986)

Georgia Totto O’Keeffe was an American modernist painter and draftswoman whose career spanned seven decades and whose work remained largely independent of major art movements. Also,  she was one of the most famous artists. She loved painting giant, colorful flowers and big desert landscapes. They were so beautiful, different and bold that people slowed down just to see them.

3. Artemisia Gentileschi – The Brave painter (1593-1653)

Artemisia Lomi or Artemisia Gentileschi was an Italian Baroque painter. Back in the time when people thought that only men can be artists she proved them wrong. She loved painting and she was so talented. She was painting big and powerful paintings like one of her most popular paintings where a strong woman was fighting a bad guy.

4. Mary Cassatt – The Mom & Baby Painter (1844-1926)

Mary Stevenson Cassatt was an American painter and printmaker. At her time many artists were men, but she didn’t let that stop her. She loved painting moms and their babies to show how beautiful and emotional those moments are. Also she became part of  a famous group called          “Impressionists” where she made the world see the art in a new way..
