YESfest: The World In Our Hands

YESfest: The World in Our Hands

Today, all over the world, various types of projects are organized and carried out in every area, for every age. It is of great benefit for the development of the entire society, especially for the development of the youth as well as the improvement of the future of all of us.

So the team of Pegasus Student Voice with its precious representatives Lena J. (I) and Masimo S.  had a privilege but also a great honor to attend and be part of a huge project at the world level with participants from many countries. It is YESfest as part of The Eden Project organization.

In this article, I will convey to you my positive experience, as part of this project that allowed me to feel as if the world was in my hands, but also to tell you something more about the project itself.

What does this project actually represent?

YESfest (Youth Eco Summits with a FESTival vibe) is a series of youth festivals designed to deepen children’s connection to nature and give them the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and network to become climate activists in their own community.

“Do something good in your part of the planet” is the motto of the project.

The event brought together 12 schools, each with six delegates, and featured a live link to the Eden Project in Cornwall and sessions led by nationally recognized facilitators.

YESfest is designed to give this generation’s children the knowledge, skills, understanding and enthusiasm to become agents of change to tackle the climate emergency – through both immersion in nature and learning sustainable and regenerative practices to use in their local communities. Building regenerative skills and habits for life.

All in a fun festival-like atmosphere to make vivid, memorable experiences at this formative age – and maybe a few new friends too.

Masimo and I joined the online meeting directly with children in London as well as from other countries.

The purpose of this first meeting was to get to know each other and to represent the country we come from in a symbolic way (to show something that symbolizes the country itself, such as: traditional food, folk elements, some souvenirs, pictures, special objects).

We both prepared very well, so Masimo introduced them to our traditional dish AJVAR, and I showed them photos of Macedonian folk costumes (male and female), and then we told them a little about the beauties of our Macedonia.

Then the children from other countries presented and introduced us to the characteristics of their countries.

Towards the end of this meeting, we had some free time for socializing and entertainment. We managed to get answers to the questions that interested us from the organizers of this project.

And most importantly, we gained new friendships, with whom I hope we will be friends again.

It was a great pleasure for our team, as well as for me as a representative, to be part of this fantastic and educational project with a great vision.

The theme “the world in my hands” fits perfectly with the idea of this truly wonderful project.

Many thanks to the entire YESfest team.

Until the next cooperation…..
