Art is important because it serves as a powerful means of expression, communication, and connection across cultures, time, and individuals. Art allows people to express their emotions, it reflects values, beliefs and experiences of different societies.
Music is also an art form. In today’s world, most music is generated through different computer programs. Most of it is created through pre-recorded sounds. But, in the past music was played manually – on instruments. Instruments are pretty interesting. They are an essential part of humanity. Music played on an instrument is more organic and human, unlike the mass–produced, robotic sounding modern pop music, that is more of a product rather than an art form.
For example, in the 20th century-the guitar was the most popular way of performing music. The guitar was the main instrument in the song – along with bass, drums and other. It was used in all different kinds of music. The instrument had a unique sound – it was changed in all kinds of ways, improved and perfected. It was so common, the certain people became famous because of their ability to perform on the guitar well.
Jimi Hendrix is probably the most popular and influential guitar player in history. Hendrix taught himself to play the guitar, which is why he has a very unique way of playing. His style of guitar playing was popularized in the ‘60s in the wood stock festival. His style can be recognized in every music genre, even today!
David Gilmour is the player which solos make the hairs of the back of your neck stand up. He got his first guitar from a gift from his aunt at a very young age. In just ten years time he was making the most recognizable songs in the world, all with passion and dedication. His style of playing is slower, more melodic and atmospheric. He, along with his band–pink floyd, became famous sometime in the ‘70s and they created the best songs in all time.
Eddie Van Halen is the guitarist that probably defined the ‘80s. He also started playing at a very young age. His style is more fast, energetic and driving. His songs and solos are definitely songs to make you energetic and jump up and down! His playing of “hammering on” and “pulling off” the strings is the guitar style that he popularised. His style of playing has inspired millions to start playing the guitar – including me!
These guitarists are some of the few I recommend to everyone to listen to.
With that being said, the guitar is truly a wonderful and fascinating instrument. I strongly urge everyone to consider picking up an instrument like the guitar or something different.
