Fashion In The Victorian Era

Fashion in the Victorian Era

You probably wonder what fashion was like back in the time when Queen Victoria was the monarch of the United Kingdom?

Victorians also had beauty standards, but since this era started way back in 1837, their beauty standards were different.

Starting with skincare: the most popular recipes that the Victorians used on their skin were rosemary shampoo, lavender hand cream, and parsley hair conditioner. Rosemary oil is very good for hair growth and it can protect against hair loss, and is used these days!

Make-up: Victorians preferred rosy cheeks, bright lips, and pale skin. They didn’t show their face to the sun a lot to stay pale, they were also on a light diet to avoid pimples. However, their makeup was very toxic.

Dressing up: The fashion in this era was mostly corsets, bonnets, bustles, and petticoats, the woman wore full skirts. Even in today’s fashion corsets are coming back in style, and people are styling them very beautifully.

Ballerinas in this era were in danger because their dresses were highly flammable due to the flammable fabrics. And many died being burned alive.

Hairstyles: The Victorians liked to keep their hair neat they also used to add additional pieces of human hair for more volume, just like hair extensions nowadays.
